This hot number was crafted by my friend Grace, and it was the first time I've ever had a bolognese sauce featuring mushrooms. They added a hearty texture and a very delightful earthiness that made the whole thing more enjoyable to shovel into my face. We also toasted up a nice, big loaf of ciabatta and hacked sizeable chunks off a block of smoked gouda. Then we ate the whole thing while listening to very sad French music. The string beans? Butter, salt, pepper. And that is all you really need when it comes to string beans.
